Position Summary
Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team.
Primary responsibility for all positions with Mendo Mill & Lumber is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time.
Yard sales associates are responsible for providing customers with fast and friendly service in the yard area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer customers questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
Help customers with loading products.
Service all customers or phone inquiries in the most expeditious, accurate and courteous manner.
Constantly upgrade product knowledge of all merchandise and locations throughout the yard.
Assist customers by walking them to the proper product and personally finding product or by asking an experienced associate for assistance.
Basic understanding of computer system and able to complete customer inquiries.
Determine customers needs by locating requested product or selling them a related or substitute item.
Responsibilities include selling and closing sales on a project-oriented basis by demonstrating products of related items to customer and presenting promotional sales product facts, information, and product data.
Exhibit the ability to service multiple customers in a friendly, efficient, and effective manner.
Cut lumber, sheet goods and pipe to specified sizes to fulfill customer requests.
Obtains merchandise requested by customers from racking and units.
Maintain merchandising responsibilities as needed such as culling lumber with supervisor permission.
Ensure that all product locations have current and appropriate bin labels, sale signage and pricing, as necessary.
Maintain inventory accuracy.
Stocks bays, racking and designated areas with merchandise.
Sweep area, remove banding, restack, and remove trash as needed.
Maintain a retail friendly environment.
Possess and maintains a valid California Class C or better drivers license.
Equipment Operation such as pallet jacks, forklifts, yard carts, saws, pipe cutter, hydraulic rebar shear, manual rebar shear, and specialty equipment as needed.
Unload vendor delivery trucks as needed and understand how to sign off packing list.
Sells products such as, but not limited to sheetrock, insulation, lumber, building materials, fencing, and pipe.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to deal with problems in a positive manner.
Additional duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid California Class C drivers license or better with an acceptable DMV printout.
Physical Demands:
While performing the employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50-80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
Adequate hearing is required.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including but not limited to working in weather temperatures exceeding 95F, and below 32F.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and/or certain chemicals (Prop 65).
The employee is exposed to high places.
The employee shall wear applicable safety equipment.
