Under the supervision of the Clinic Director and Medical Director, the Assistant Clinic Director would support and assist with the day-to-day operations of the clinic and overall management of the program.
This individual will assist to develop, manage, report on, and be accountable for the activities of the program assigned to them.
The Assistant Clinic Director will be a key contact with community leaders addressing substance use problems within and around Mendocino County.
In this role, the Assistant Clinic Director will assist and support the Clinic Director and Medical Director in the areas of human resources, finances, and general accountability.
As Assistant Clinic Director your duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain licensure or certification in good standing and comply with the requirements for continuing education hours and /or (CEH or CEU).
Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the clinic, as it relates to patient care, staff members, and the facility.
Demonstrate excellence and professionalism to employees through role modeling and leadership.
Follow and implement code of ethics and employee handbook.
Assist in leading quality assurance programs for the clinic by implementation of regulations and policies and procedures.
Maintain professional relationships with patients based on mutual trust and respect and in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Patient’s Rights.
Report inappropriate behavior and misconduct of other staff members to the Clinic Director, CEO and HR Director.
Be present at the clinic during all operating hours, especially as it relates to morning huddle, opening, closing and break times.
Primary Duties: Maintain safe and professional working and treatment environment in the clinic.
Mitigate, remove, and/or resolve any potential risk, hazards, and nuisances.
Ensure proper evaluation and assessment of patients as it relates to behavioral conditions, risk factors, and relapse triggers.
Ensure professional treatment planning for patients as it relates to the patient’s individual conditional and clinical needs and in accordance with their assessment and evaluations.
Assign caseloads, evaluate performance for quality assurance, conduct new employee orientation and manage staff development and training.
Ensure that individual and family psychotherapy and case management services are delivered to the individuals served as required.
Responsible for ensuring adherence to departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures with regard to referral, placement, and treatment of patients.
Assist in the implementation of evidence-based best practices and emerging practice protocols.
Assist in the development, tracking and reporting of outcomes measures.
Utilize the outcome measures for performance improvement of services.
Audit patient records on a regular basis to assure accuracy, compliance with standards, and to ensure services are being delivered to patients as required.
In conjunction with other staff, assist in identifying and eliminating any situation which jeopardizes the health and/or safety of patients, staff, or others who come in contact with community mental health center operations.
Assist staff in working with the court system.
Attend community meetings and provide outreach and education on New Life Clinic’s programs and services.
Collaborate with partner agencies and community members to support New Life Clinic’s mission.
Work with government monitors and project administrators to file reports or complete surveys.
Assist to prepare all reports for appropriate agencies or contracts and coordinate with management.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state licensing requirements, while internally adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Human Resources: Maintain a pleasant and professional working environment.
Assist in managing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating and supervising program staff, and in writing job descriptions.
Assist in determining staffing levels.
Assist in counseling and disciplining staff as appropriate and necessary.
Assist in evaluating staff performance.
Audit staff records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements.
Assist with the development of program policies and procedures.
Evaluate program effectiveness.
Financial Performance: Pursue census growth through implementation of effective relapse prevention, outreach, and community relations.
Assist in working with billing office to ensure contract and billing/coding compliance and to ensure clinic financial performance.
Assist in formulating and executing a marketing plan for clinic site.
Comply with the clinic’s operational budgets and practice cost management and special attention to compliance with funding sources.
Ensure proper and professional handling of funds, collection, verification of eligibility and billing.
Ensure efficient utilization of clinic resources and assets, intellectual property, clinic equipment furniture ordering, etc.
Utilize literature, workshops, and other training aids to continually improve clinical and administrative skills.
Perform other related duties and activities as required.
Customer Service: Maintain a safe, pleasant, and professional treatment environment.
Enhance customer satisfaction through respectful communication, prompt attention to customer needs and ensure implementation of patient and stakeholders surveys.
Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of 12-Step Principles.
Computer literate: Microsoft Office, databases, electronic medical records keeping.
Graduate-level behavioral health degree or extensive history of working in the chemical dependency field as a counselor.
Must be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or certified (or registered) by a California-recognized drug and alcohol certifying body.
2-3 years of management or supervisory experience.
Prior training in counseling or substance use disorder treatment.
History of working within a mental health or substance use disorder system, including the provision of medications for opioid use disorder highly desired.
Willing to follow and train staff in New Life Clinic personnel policies.
Able to work the hours and days required by position, including daily 5:30 am start times.
Be willing to learn and able to deliver the New Life Clinic model of outpatient chemical dependency treatment.
Understand intensive case management, mental health concepts, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, recovery, and mindfulness concepts.
A successful track record of working with, and sensitivity to, multi-cultural populations.
