This position, reporting to the Clinic Medical Director, is an excellent opportunity for someone excited to make an immediate and lasting impact in a growing company.
Position Overview: As a Physician of New Life Clinic, you will lead an engaged team in the fight against the opioid crisis.
We are committed to hiring dedicated, versatile team players to staff this clinic, and you will guide them through daily challenges and triumphs-and toward our greater goals of saving lives and healing our community.
New Life Clinic is founded on a patient-centered model of timely, individualized care.
Staff members are expected to cross-train to make each day a success and to function as a cohesive unit.
Training in addiction medicine and management experience in a health care setting are necessary for this position, as well as the licensure and insurance requirements listed below.

Primary Duties: Works collaboratively with NP/PA and medical staff positions.
Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of substance use disorders as well as medical conditions.
Provide physical examinations for patients and/or review patients’ history in determining medical necessity.
Provide primary care and urgent care evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment per policies and procedures and within the current standard practice.
Supervise admissions to treatment, discharges from treatment, medication orders, and adjustments to treatment plans.
Initiate, alter, and terminate medication orders for the treatment of opioid use disorder following strict protocols.
Place patients into treatment.
Follow clinical and research protocols.
Collect data and complete paperwork required by clinical and research protocols.
Supervise, monitor, and direct activities of mid-level practitioners (PA, NP or equivalent).
Provide occasional consultation by telemedicine.
Communicate with outside physicians providing primary medical care to New Life Clinic patients to facilitate continuity of care with appropriate waivers compliant with 42 CFR part B regulations.
Meet the approval of Federal & state guidelines as well as current medical literature for patient care.
Supervise the administration and dispensing of medications.
Provide patient education specific to various disease processes within our scope of practice.
Refer patients for care elsewhere when indicated (including appropriate follow up).
Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Plan and supervise provision of treatment for patients (including regular review and notes in the patient’s record) according to established CSAT and state guidelines with a strong emphasis on quality & customer service.
Sign patient record notes within organizational and regulatory guidelines.
Oversee patient care provided by other medical staff members, sign charts, review dosing levels, etc.
Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and document health history.
Responsible for following all organizational precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties to ensure a safe work environment for self and others.
Maintain credentials as required by certifying/licensing body.
Participate in professional development and in-service programs as required by position.
Minimum Requirements: Have a current, unrestricted license to practice in California or any state.
Have a current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license.
No pending legal inquiries or license probation.
Willingness to follow New Life Clinic personnel policies.
Willingness to see, treat and be sympathetic towards substance use disorder patients.
Preferred: Board certified in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine, also preferred board certification in family medicine or internal medicine.
Supervise PA’s & NP’s as needed.
Ability to provide health and TB clearance.
Must pass background check and urine drug screen.

In addition, the Physician must demonstrate knowledge of: Medications to treat opioid use disorder.
Human behavior and abnormal psychology.
Diagnosis of substance use disorders as well as clinical signs of intoxication.
Evidence based treatments for substance use disorders, treatment plans, crisis interventions, individual and group therapy, case management, and patient education.
Current standards, policies and procedures of regulatory bodies, state law, contractual agreements, and professional standards.
Proficiency in the below procedures preferred: Perform routine clinical procedures independently including, but not limited to, the following: Laceration repair with sutures, staples, or Dermabond Splinting fractures Foreign body removal Incision and drainage Suture/staple removal Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this classification.
