We are currently seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to support our clinic in Ukiah, CA.
This position, reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, can be either full-time or part-time and is an excellent opportunity for someone excited to make an immediate and lasting impact in a growing company.

We are looking for a Substance Use Disorder Counselor who understands how a good opioid treatment program fits within the broader community and who wants to help to build the compassionate community within our clinic.
Are you ready to make a difference one person at a time? Primary Duties: Report directly to the Clinical Supervisor.
Provide treatment in individual and group settings for individuals and families of individuals with substance use disorder.
Provide treatment according to the New Life Clinic model.
Answer telephone calls requesting information about addiction or treatment.
Assist in scheduling treatment appointments or help with appropriate referral.
When authorized by the Clinic Administrator, disseminate substance use disorder information to the community.
Assist in intake of patients and scheduling of appointments.
Prepare, maintain, and file charts.
Assume a rotation on the on-call schedule.
Adhere to personnel policies and clinical protocols.
Utilize a compassionate and goal-oriented approach and employ therapeutic techniques that help our patients improve their ability to manage their emotions, enhance their communication skills, and develop more effective coping skills.
Utilize literature, workshops, and other training aids to continually improve clinical and administrative skills.
Evaluate patient needs and determine course of treatment (including additional referrals to other programs or facilities as needed) conduct follow up assessments and engage patients in developing their own individualized treatment plan.
Work in collaboration with clinical and medical staff and patients in developing treatment goals and provision of necessary services based upon medical necessity.
Communicate with medical staff regarding a patient’s condition including status of referrals, receipt of treatment documentation, and patient response to care provided by medical team.
Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is clear, concise, and completed in a timely manner.
Communicate with administrative staff regarding patient insurance, Medi-Cal, and third-party payor.
Participate in individual and group supervision.
Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions.
Plan for aftercare and support to patients in effort to maintain a substance-free lifestyle.
Treat all patients with dignity, courtesy, and respect, recognizing their right to have requests, needs, and complaints responded to in a professional and timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent to diploma (college degree preferred).
Must be certified (or registered) by a California-recognized drug-and-alcohol certifying body (including ‘trainee’ categories).
Certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Associate Social Worker, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (working toward licensure).
Prior training in counseling or addiction treatment.
History of performing in a professional capacity.
Willing to follow New Life Clinic personnel policies.
Able to work the hours and days required by position, including daily 5:30 am start times.
Be willing to learn and able to deliver evidence-based practices in the treatment of substance use disorders.
Ability to provide health and TB clearance.
Skills & Abilities: Proficient in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and other evidence-based practices, including medications for addiction treatment Passion for working with people, even on tough days.
