Adventist Health Mendocino Coast has a rich history in serving community members on the coast.
Following a grass-roots effort to pass a hospital district initiative, Mendocino Coast District Hospital, was dedicated on June 26, 1971.
Mendocino Coast District Hospital took its place as an important resource for the Fort Bragg community offering residents the peace of mind that comes from knowing emergency help is readily available and medical care often can be provided locally, keeping families together as much as possible.
In July 2020, Mendocino Coast District Hospital joined the Adventist Health family.
Job Summary:
Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians.
Produces images of internal body tissues in order to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy and cancer.
Supervises and mentors ultrasound personnel.
Maintains equipment.

Education and Work Experience:
Diploma/certificate from an Ultrasound college/school: Required
Licenses/Certifications:
ACR Accredited Sites: All sonographers must be certified and currently registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics (OB) or Vascular (RVT); or Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI-RVS); or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or (VS) within one year of hire: Required in CA and HI (with multiple areas Preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
ARRT-Sonography (ARRT-S) or CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI RVS) or ARRT-Vascular Sonography (ARRT-VS) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Required
Essential Functions:
Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient’s body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs, vessels and pathology.
Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions and standards.
Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate.
Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures and continually monitors and records vital signs.
Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervening as needed.
Maintains accurate records, files and billing information.
Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
