*Upper Lake Unified School District * *Job Description * Clerk I & II *General Description* Under the general supervision of the site/department administrator.
The primary role of the Clerk Position is to support site(s)/department(s) basic daily processes and procedures to facilitate the conducive and equitable functioning of each of the following Divisions: Educational Services, Pupil Personnel Services, and Business Services.
*Duties and Responsibilities for (Clerk I & II)* ● Monitor students in a variety of school environments (e.
g.
, restrooms, playground, locker room, library, cafeteria, classroom, etc.
) to maintain a safe and secure school environment.
● Assist in a classroom setting or outside supervision as an instructional paraprofessional.
● Monitor the safety and welfare of students during and in between classroom activities to minimize the severity of harmful incidents and assist in the safety and welfare of the campus.
● Assists in the preparation of material for classrooms, sites, and/or department needs.
● Provide student first aid treatment following currently acceptable first aid practice and short of that which must be provided by a licensed medical professional.
● Work with Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III students on restorative practices.
● Assist in a classroom setting and/or outside supervision.
● Support all school-related activities within the classroom, school site, and other areas as needed (e.
g.
, student transportation, food service support, online learning).
● Issue attendance and tardy slips to students.
● Updating information into Student Information System(s).
● Make telephone contact with parents, students, school office staff, and teachers as needed.
● Create and send oral/written communication and perform home visits - as part of a team - concerning the health and welfare of students/families as directed.
● Fill in as receptionist answering inquiries from teachers, parents, school administrators, or other authorities providing information as required.
● Check all emergency equipment, and maintain stock for emergency bags (sports, classrooms, field trips, etc.
).
● Perform general clerical duties not limited to filing, distribution of mail, faxing, scanning, and making copies.
● Assist with school registration, including immunization laws, reporting, and requirements.
● Participate in specialized training related to student needs.
● Conduct business off-site as directed.
● Ensure that the supervising administrator and other appropriate staff members are informed of issues and activities requiring attention.
● Conduct routine office business such as directed by the site/department administrator (word processing, use of business machines, scheduling, etc.
).
● Complete reports regarding screenings and student data (i.
e.
: immunizations, enrollment paperwork, parent letters, etc.
).
● Assist with cash and check deposits.
● Attend site(s), department, and district-level meetings as directed.
● Take direction and training from Clerk II, Secretary I, Secretary II, Administrative Assistant I, and/or Administrative Assistant II.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the site/department supervisor(s) or other designees.
*Additional Duties and Responsibilities for (Clerk II) * ● Assist in training staff as it relates to emergency practices.
● Coordinate and implement health screenings, including sports physicals.
● Complete specialized reports.

- emails, writing and reviewing memorandums, proofreading, spreadsheets, reports, etc.
).
● Attend meetings as directed, including health-related specialized meetings (i.
e.
, 504, IEP, Health Plans).
● Attend to students as directed who have specialized medical and health needs (i.
e.
- Health Plans, restroom use assistance, physical and emotional needs, and other medical needs).
● Clean and sanitize student specialized medical equipment, and perform other sanitary duties.
● Assist in coordinating/planning with outside agencies (Healthy Start, LC Behavioral Health, Tribal Health, etc.
) for school services.
● Independently make and submit travel and accommodation arrangements for staff members to attend conferences, workshops, and other activities outside the District as directed by the supervisor(s).
● Accurately create a variety of documents including letters, bulletins, memoranda, announcements, and reports from an oral direction, rough draft, templates, or notes within established schedules and deadlines.
● Act as substitute vehicle/van driver.
● Schedule and prepare materials for interview candidates.
● Schedule meetings as directed.
● Obtain release of information, collaborate with medical personnel, obtain the necessary paperwork, distribute medication, and provide other medically necessary interventions as prescribed and/or directed.
● Coordinate reimbursements.
● Acquire quotes and information from vendors.
● Reconcile accounts.
● Sort and compile data.
● Coordinate and collaborate with service providers.
● Coordinate and implement required mandates.
● Delivery, collection, and assembly of contracts and forms.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the site/department supervisor(s) or other designees.
*Basic Qualifications:* ● High School Diploma and passage of the paraeducator exam administered through the Lake County Office of Education; or ● Associate of Arts degree; or ● Passage of the paraeducator exam administered through the Lake County Office of Education.
● Clerical experience with knowledge and experience of computers and related programs preferred.
● Clerical and Business/Educational experience in an office/classroom setting, public school experience preferred.

*Working Conditions/Environment*: ● Office environment wherein the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, run, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
● Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
● Ability to lift/move students for mobility purposes and functional needs.
● Respond to needs at multiple school sites.
● Ability to demonstrate mental acuity in the performance of job-related duties.
● Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
