How you make a difference:
The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (PT) EASS role involves providing direct patient care and support in a correctional setting.
The PT is responsible for assisting with data collection and conducting patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Additionally, the PT works closely with IST patients to administer medication, gather vitals, facilitate tele-psychiatry appointments, and provide restoration of competency services in group and individual formats, all while adhering to the Nursing Practice Act and demonstrating competencies in their practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments and collect patient data in the correctional setting, including physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans with consultation from RNs and other staff as appropriate, while also providing patient teaching and care.
Facilitate tele-psychiatry appointments and work closely with psychiatric prescribers to provide medication, gather patient vitals, and conduct chart reviews for Incompetent to Stand Trial patients.
Administer medications and implement medical plans within scope of practice, responding to emergencies and following established policies and protocols.
Ensure competencies are demonstrated in the correctional setting with appropriate supervision, while documenting nursing encounters and communicating information to healthcare personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Experience
One (1) or more years clinic experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Current licensure as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (PT) in the state of employment
Current CPR certification required
Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred
