Job Summary:
Oversees the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber and related support systems.
Is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems.
Is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance on the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems.
Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Physician.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Clinical experience in hyperbaric medicine: Preferred
Introductory course in Hyperbaric Medicine (40-60 hour) approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS): Preferred
Technical experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
Certification as a Hyperbaric Tech or Dive Medical Tech: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN): Required
Essential Functions:
Assesses the patients' physical and psychosocial status.
Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), providing a high pressure, oxygen-rich atmosphere to treat the bone damage associated with radiation therapy, radiation injuries or some forms of brain or bone damage.
Assesses educational needs of patients while preparing for initial treatment and during active time in the program.
Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chambers and ancillary components.
Performs chamber operations, including pressurization/depressurization of patients, pressure maintenance during treatment, chambers maintenance and troubleshooting minor chamber problems.
Actively demonstrates ability to perform wound care including knowledge of basic wound care products used in the center.
Ensures department compliance with federal and state regulations and unit safety policies and procedures.
Performs ongoing patient assessment, documents patient status and reports pertinent information and observations to clinical nurse and/or physician.
Maintains adequate supplies needed for wound care and patient treatments.
Makes the necessary recommendations for departmental safety policies and incorporates new safety procedures as appropriate.
Provides leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility personnel.
Assists in reviewing and documenting safety-related events and discusses appropriate event with others to facilitate learning.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
