*JOB DESCRIPTION* *POSITION: Homework Club Tutor (PT 20 hours/week)* *DEPARTMENT: Education Department* *REPORTS TO: Education Director* *EFFECTIVE DATE: 10/19/2023* *HOURLY RANGE: $17.

50 (DOE)* *JOB SUMMARY* The Homework Club Tutor is responsible for supporting students in the achievement of academic success by assisting each student with their individual academic and social needs.
This includes establishing a working relationship with school personnel, parents and other agencies, tribal and non-tribal, and other learning center staff members.
Homework Club Tutor will facilitate the Homework Club, which will be a trauma informed after school care program that will provide youth an environment to receive tutoring support.
The Homework Club Tutor must demonstrate an above average competency in math, reading, writing and computer skills.
This position assists with planning, organizing and implementing educational and cultural program activities.
This position is 100% grant funded, therefore, the position may end at the end of the grant period unless additional funding is secured.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Assist students with their homework and all areas of academic studies.
* Work with department staff developing and planning learning and related activities for students.
* Work with department staff evaluating individual student academic and social progress.
* Coordinate student learning objectives with outside academic and vocational programs.
* Collect student academic data to report to the Education Director.
* Participates in staff development programs.
* Communicates student academic needs to parent(s)/guardian(s).
* Work with parent(s)/guardian(s) to determine how to best help the students succeed academically.
* Assist with after school and summer program cultural activities (coordinating and monitoring).
* Attend parent committee meetings as scheduled by the department manager/director.
* Must maintain a good attendance record.
* Help maintain all files and records.
* Travels as necessary to accomplish program and tribal goals and objectives.
* Chaperone field trips as needed.
Some field trips are overnights, so must be available to work some nights and weekends.
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule (i.
e.
during the school year, from 2pm to 6pm and during the summer, 9:30am to 1:30pm) * Maintains professional behavior with positive representation of Coyote Valley while on and off the clock.
* Must maintain strict confidentiality during and after employment.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Qualifications* * High School Diploma or GED.
Associate’s Degree preferred.
* Possess above average math skills (algebra II).
* Possess above average grammar skills.
* Experience using Microsoft Office.
* Must be able to work closely with the department manager and take directives accurately.
* Have good interpersonal skills, especially with youth.
* Must have great communication skills and be a team player.
* Have a neat and clean personal appearance.
* Knows basic principles and practices of tutoring in a classroom, in small groups and individually.
* Have ability to intervene on inappropriate behaviors in an assertive and positive manner.
* Must have a valid CA Driver’s License, insurable, and own transportation and the ability.
*Skills, Knowledge and Abilities* * Ability to concentrate on work in an environment that may be noisy or intense.
* Can demonstrate effective and diplomatic communication skills, which includes contact with staff, tribal members, students, parents, and other government officials.
* Must demonstrate experience performing within specific deadlines or under pressure.
* Must demonstrate the experience, education and training that indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, or a willingness to receive training towards these abilities.
*Language Skills* Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
*Reasoning Ability* * Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the children and other employees.
* Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
*Physical Demands* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, lift (up to 25 lbs.
) and use their hands and fingers, so as to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Must be able to work in an intense environment where a high degree of concentration is necessary to perform the required job duties.
